This is my first summer in Pacific North West and so far the summer had eluded this part. Seattle area is blessed with ample of greenery and all the beautiful landscapes, huge and lush rain forests. However, I was eagerly looking for bright sunshine and a summery weather. No, not because I love hot weather or want to get drenched in sweat, but because I was longing for a long time to cherish all the summer refreshing drinks, yummy popsicles and some comfortable cold dishes. So, when finally today Mr. Sun decided to make his presence in this part of the world, I jumped in no time to prepare Chaas or Spiced Butter Milk or Ghola Dahi for our evening drink.
Ingredients for Chaas or Spiced Butter Milk or Ghola Dahi:
- Greek Yogurt or Plain Whole Milk Yogurt – 3 tbsp
- Water – 8 cups
- Ginger – very tiny piece
- Green Chillies – 2 -3 pieces, based on the heat you can bear
- Curry Leaves – 1 Sprig
- Mint Leaves – 5-6
- Coriander Leaves – 2-3 sprigs
- Salt – according to taste, I added 2 tsp
- Black Salt – 1 tsp for flavorings
Steps of Preparations:
- Take all the fresh ingredients and wash thoroughly.
- Take the blender and blend all the ingredients with one cup of water until all the whole pieces are ground.
- Add water and mix uniformly. Then refrigerate for 2-3 hrs.
Spiced Butter Milk or Ghola Dahi

- corriander leaves – 2 -3 sprigs
- Salt – according to taste, I did add 2 tsp
- Black Salt – 1 tsp for flavorings
